Letter from our 77th President:

Welcome to the official site of the South Carolina Junior Chamber of Commerce, more commonly known as the South Carolina Jaycees. A lot has changed for our state and the country since the South Carolina Jaycees official inception in 1937. But there are some stark similarities: Like then, our world is surrounded by trials and the future can often appear uncertain and replete with challenges. Like then, our country is in need of young leaders. Like then- the South Carolina Jaycees stand ready to fill that need. Our organization’s mission is to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change. Our organization’s vision is to be the leading global network of active young citizens. We provide the tools these young people need to succeed in areas of business development, management skills, individual training and community service, as well as international connections.

There is a reason the South Carolina Jaycees have served as the preeminent membership organization for people age 21- 40. That is because the Jaycee experience makes good on our promise that you will receive back everything you are willing to put into our organization. On behalf of our Executive Committee, we welcome your visit to our site. With 24 chapters throughout the state, and new ones scheduled to begin regularly in 2013, there is one near you that will welcome your membership, your abilities and your opinions. The Jaycees is an organization designed to make what seemed impossible, possible. Muhammad Ali described what impossible is perfectly: “impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing”. Let us help you make your impossible, possible by becoming a Jaycee.
